Aids and Scholarships


 Admission Policies and Guidelines


 


 The College is open to students who meet its academic standards and are willing to abide by the rules, regulations, policies, and ideals of the school. Students are expected to meet all the standard requirements and the regulations set or prescribed by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the criteria set by the College through the SDPC Office.

A. Freshmen Applicant

The following are qualified to apply as Freshman:

1. Candidates for High School graduation as of the end of the current school year are qualified to apply for admission.

2. High School graduate from Department of Education (DepED) recognized institutions.

3. Applicants who are holders of DepED issued certificate equivalent to high school diploma may be admitted to the College.

4. Graduates from foreign secondary schools.

B. Transfer Applicant

In accordance with the School’s academic freedom, it reserves the right to withhold or deny admission of transfer applicants for non-compliance of the prescribed admission requirements, criteria, and screening demanded of the same. Qualified transfer applicants eligible for admission may be accepted after having duly and/or satisfactorily complied with and passed all the admission requirements, criteria, and screening/evaluation procedure:

1. Transfer accommodation shall be open up to incoming second year students. However, special cases will be considered upon recommendation by the Dean subject to approval of the VPAA;

2. Students with academic deficiency records may only be admitted on the following conditions:

2.1 Must pass the evaluation of the Dean of the department the student intends to enroll in

2.2 Must pass the entrance examinations with a mark not lower than 80%

2.3 Must pass the evaluation of the SAO

3. Only students with good moral standing and/or without any derogatory background or disciplinary breach of conduct whatsoever are eligible for admission;

4. Transfer applicants should pass the interviews by the Admissions Office before being admitted or accepted.

5. Transfer applicant who stopped schooling should submit an affidavit stating the reason for, the duration and inclusive semesters/school years of stopping.

6. Transfer applicants may be required to repeat some subjects which were previously completed upon the discretion of the Dean.

7. Entrance examination shall only be given to transfer applicants AFTER their application/transfer credentials and requirements have been verified and deemed qualified for admission by the SDPC based on or according to the prescribed policies and guidelines set by the school. 8. Once admitted, the transfer applicants with academic deficiencies must enroll in a study load of at least 18 units and is placed under academic probation and for purposes of monitoring the transferee is placed under disciplinary probation status.

C. Foreign Applicants

Foreign applicants must get clearance from the Registrar before filing their application.

D. Returning Students

Students who discontinued their enrollment for at least a year, upon re-enrollment must present the requirements for re-admission to the SDPC. Those who stopped for more than one year shall undergo assessment tests and interview.

E. Cross Enrollees

1. Only students from accredited Higher Educational Institutions (HEI) can cross register in SSC-R Manila.

2. Applicants for cross enrollment must submit the needed requirements prescribed by the school.

3. Cross enrollees must seek the approval of the Registrar, Deans and Head of Student Affairs prior to their enrollment in SSC-R Manila.


To facilitate admission, student applicants are expected to prepare all requirements listed below and thereafter present said requirements to the College Admissions Committee:


A. Admission Requirements


1. For Freshmen

1.1 Form 138 (4th Year Report Card) or its equivalent

1.2 Certificate of Good Moral Character issued by authorized school official

1.3 Five (5) Recent 1×1 ID colored pictures

1.4 SSC-R College Admission Test (SSC-RCAT) Result, except for high school graduates of Recollect Schools

1.5 Birth Certificate in an NSO Security Paper (photocopy)

1.6 For freshman applicants who stopped schooling after graduation – Affidavit stating or attesting to the fact that he has not enrolled in any College or University or any Vocational Institution after High School graduation.


 2. For Returning Students

2.1 All requirements for freshman students,

2.2 Additional requirements:

2.3 Letter of Application for Re-Admission addressed to the Chairman of the College Admissions Committee through the Academic Dean concerned (3 copies and duly notarized).The letter of application must contain or state at least the following:

2.3.1 Intention to apply for re-admission

2.3.2 Duration of and reason for the leave of absence

2.3.3 Written assurance or attestation that the student did not commit any derogatory act tarnishing the school’s name, reputation and ideals

2.3.4 Assurance or attestation that the applicant did not enroll in any other school throughout the duration of his leave of absence from SSC-R

2.3.5 Three (3) character references with their names, addresses and contact numbers

2.4 Copy of grades (from the time of admission to the last semester/term attended) as verified by the Registrar

2.5 Clearance from the Accounting Office


3. For Transferees

3.1 All requirements for freshmen

3.2 Additional requirements:

3.2.1 Letter of Application for Admission (with two character references with their names, addresses and contact numbers)

3.2.2 Certificate of Transfer Credentials

3.2.3 Transcript of Records (no failing, dropped or incomplete grades)

3.2.4 Accomplished Recommendation Form

3.2.5 Must only be an in-coming Second (2nd) Year for non-baccalaureate degree holder.

3.2.6 For applicant who stopped schooling – Affidavit stating the reason for, the duration and inclusive semesters/school years of stopping

3.2.7 Admission’s Committee Interview Result (required prior to the administration of SSC-R CAT)

(N.B. An applicant, having a baccalaureate degree and applying for a second course, will be classified as transferee.)


4. For Foreign Students

4.1 All requirements for Freshmen

4.2 Additional requirements:

4.2.1 Proof of adequate financial support to cover expenses for the student’s accommodation and subsistence, as well as school dues and other incidental expenses

4.2.2 Scholastic Records duly authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Service Post located in the student’s country of origin or legal residence

4.2.3 Police Clearance Certificate issued by the National Police Authorities in the applicant’s country of origin or residence duly authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Service Post having consular jurisdiction over the place for the students who resided in the Philippines for less than 59 days

4.2.4 Personality or psychological test (from SDPC)


 5. For Cross-enrollees

5.1 Official permit from the student’s school of origin

5.2 Certificate of Good Moral Character issued by authorized school official



B. Admission Procedure


1. For Freshmen

1.1 Before the Examination

1.1.1 Fill-out the Application Form for admission examination. This can be obtained from the College Student Development and Placement Center (SDPC) located at the ground floor of St. Sebastian Building (Administration Building) and Information Center or download a Portable Document Format (PDF) copy from the school’s official website.

1.1.2 Proceed to SDPC located at the ground floor of St. Sebastian Building (Administration Building) and submit the completed application form with all the required documents:

1.1.3 Pay the entrance exam fee at the cashier located at the ground floor of St. Monica Building (College Arcade).

1.1.4 Present the Official Receipt (OR) together with the Application form and secure the test permit from the SDPC.

1.1.5 Take the examination on the scheduled date.

1.2 Day of Examination

1.2.1 Bring the validated examination permit, OR and ID.

1.2.2 Be at the examination room at least thirty (30) minutes before the start of the test.

1.2.3 Prepare for the two-hour test.

1.2.4 Claim/know the Entrance Examination results, either personally or through an authorized representative. Results will be made available within the day of the examination.

1.3 Interview

1.3.1 For successful examinees/applicants, proceed to the Guidance Counselors at the SDPC for interview.

1.3.2 Proceed to the Dean concerned for interview before advancing to the enrollment procedures.


 2. For Returning Students

2.1 Before the Examination

2.1.1 Present the requirements to the SDPC located at the ground floor of St. Sebastian Building (Administration Building).

2.1.2 Submit the complete requirements for the interview with the Chairman of the Screening Committee (Student Affairs Office, 2nd Floor, St. Monica Building).

2.1.3 Fill-out the Application Form for admission examination which can be obtained from the SDPC located at the ground floor of St. Sebastian Building.

2.1.4 Proceed to the SDPC and submit the completed application form with all the required documents.

2.1.5 Pay the entrance examination fee at the cashier’s window located at the ground floor of St. Monica Building (college arcade).

2.1.6 Present the OR together with application form and secure the test permit from the SDPC.

2.1.7 Take the examination on the scheduled date.

2.2 Day of Examination

2.2.1 Bring the validated examination permit, OR and ID.

2.2.2 Be at the examination room at least thirty (30) minutes before the start of the test.

2.2.3 Prepare for the two-hour test.

2.2.4 Claim/know the Entrance Examination Result either personally or through an authorized representative. Results will be made available within the day of the examination.

2.3 Interview

2.3.1 For successful examinees/applicants, proceed to the Guidance Counselors at the SDPC for interview.

2.3.2 Proceed to the Dean concerned before advancing to the enrollment procedures.


 3. For Transferees

3.1 Accounting Office: secure clearance for back accounts.

3.2 Registrar’s Office: secure copy of grades.

3.3 Student Affairs Office

3.3.1 Present notarized letter of intent for re-admission.

3.3.2 Present re-admission credentials.

3.3.3 Secure re-admission form.

3.4 Dean’s Office

3.4.1 Verify academic records.

3.4.2 Secure recommending approval for re-admission.

3.5 SDPC

3.5.1 Take assessment tests (for those who stopped for more than one year).

3.5.2 Secure approval for re-admission.

3.6 Registrar’s Office

3.6.1 Submit the required documents.


 4. For Foreign Applicants

4.1 Before the Examination

4.1.1 Prepare and submit the following needed requirements to the Registrar’s Office located at the ground floor of St. Monica Building.

4.1.1.1 For Special Study Permit (SSP)

a. Letter request from the applicant, with a statement that all documents submitted were legally obtained from the corresponding learning institution/s;

b. Duly accomplished and notarized Consolidated General Application Form (BI Form No. RADJR-2012-03). If the applicant is a minor, form shall be signed by legal guardian or authorized signatory of learning institution;

c. Original copy of Certificate of Acceptance issued by the learning institution duly accredited by the Bureau of Immigration to accept foreign students;

d. Photocopy of applicant’s passport (bio-page, admission and authorized stay);

e. Original copy of Bureau of Immigration (BI) Clearance Certificate; and

f. In case of renewal/extension of SSP, Photocopy of ACR I-Card (front and back portion).

4.1.1.2 For Conversion to Student Visa

a. Letter request from the applicant, with a statement that all documents submitted were legally obtained from the corresponding government agencies;

b. Consolidated General Application Form duly accomplished and notarized (BI Form No. RADJR-2012-03);

c. Original copy of the Notice of Acceptance containing a clear impression of the school’s official dry seal and duly notarized written Endorsement from the school for the conversion of applicant’s status signed by the School Registrar;

d. Original copy of Medical Certificate issued by the Bureau of Quarantine and International Health Surveillance or a government medical institution with competence to certify that the applicant is not afflicted with any dangerous, contagious or loathsome disease and is mentally fit;

e. Photocopy of applicant’s Passport (bio-page, admission and authorized stay);

f. Original copy of National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) Clearance; and

g. Original copy of Bureau of Immigration Clearance Certificate.

4.1.2 Fill out the application form. This can be obtained from the SDPC located at the ground floor of St. Sebastian Building or download a PDF copy from the school’s official website.

4.1.3 Proceed to the SDPC and submit the completed application form with all the required documents.

4.1.4 Pay the entrance examination fee at the cashier’s window located at the ground floor of St. Monica Building.

4.1.5 Present the OR together with application form and secure the test permit.

4.1.6 Take the examination on your scheduled date.

4.2 Day of Examination

4.2.1 Bring the validated examination permit, OR and ID.

4.2.2 Be at the examination room at least thirty (30) minutes before the start of the test.

4.2.3 Prepare for the two-hour test.

4.2.4 Claim/know the Entrance Examination results either personally or through an authorized representative. Results will be made available within the day of the examination.

4.3 Interview

4.3.1 For successful examinees/applicants, proceed to the Guidance Counselors at the SDPC.

4.3.2 Proceed to the Dean concerned before advancing to the enrollment procedures.


5. For Cross-Enrolees

5.1 Dean’s Office: submit subject/s to be enrolled for verification of availability and matching of course description.

5.2 Registrar’s Office: Present and submit the permit to cross enroll and the certificate of good moral character.
