MEDICAL AND DENTAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT

 

The following are the functions of the Medical/Dental Office:

1.1.1.Conducts annual routine physical examination with laboratory for all incoming freshmen.

1.1.2.Conducts annual medical examination for all returning students during

1.1.3.Individual consultation or treatment.

1.1.4.Gives the initial dose of medicine and treatment and records all of these in the clinic logbook. Provides prescription whenever a particular medicine is not available. Medicines prescribed by private attending physicians should be the responsibility of the students.

1.1.5.Refers certain special cases to other qualified medical specialists for further diagnosis and management.

1.1.6.Informs school authorities (e.g. principals, deans, etc.) and the parents of students who have met accidents while inside the school campus and those who require emergency transfer and treatment to hospitals.

1.1.7.Assists in the application of insurance coverage by providing insurance forms and advisement for students who encountered accidents.

1.1.8.Gives immunizations to students with appropriate parental consent during epidemics and supervises vaccinations or inoculations given by the nurses.

1.1.9.Updates the entire school community immediately of any reportable communicable diseases.

1.1.10.Determines the physical and mental fitness of students who will participate in P.E. classes, athletic leagues and issues medical certificates.

1.1.11.Provides health examination for pupils/students to certify absences, as well as readmission to or exclusion from classes.

1.1.12.Gives discussions and lectures to students on basic health education, personal hygiene, occurrence of epidemics, communicable and highly contagious diseases as the need arises.

1.1.13.Requires all food-handlers in the canteen to submit their annual health certificates for inspection and verification.

1.1.14.Renders medical and dental services to all religious and lay administrators.

1.1.15.Provides the emergency medical kits with logbook for duly authorized out-of-school activities of students.

1.1.16.Participates regularly in outreach activities and other community-based medical and dental missions organized by the school.

1.1.17.Checks and follows-up cases referred to other hospitals.
