Dr. Maranan, Research Center Director was elated to be part of an international conference outside Asia – a first in the history of SSC-R. According to him, the participation of the institution in this event is a welcome opportunity for the school’s active collaboration in multi disciplinal research activities with educators in the different parts of the world.

Dr. Maranan also emphasized that this participation can be considered as a good indicator that the culture of research is getting strong. It is a condition sine qua non towards University status of San Sebastian College – Recoletos, Manila. Two papers from SSC-R were accepted by the Board of APCoRE for paper presentation

The Director of SSC-R Research Center has presented his paper entitled ” Code-Switching as a Medium of Instruction for the Information Technology and Computer Science Students of San Sebastian College- Recoletos, Manila, ” co- authored by Mrs. Ma. Antonieta G. Zoleta and Engr. Nora Bautista. The said study revealed that the high acceptability level of code-switching as a medium of instruction for the IT and CS students could be challenging to the endeavor of SSCR to make their students language proficient based on the demand of the industry. The researchers of the saud study have recommended a policy for language usage which could be effective only through the will of the Academics Department.

Meanwhile, an undergraduate research conducted by Mr. John Harold Noble and Mr. Adonis Nathaniel Geron, alumni of the Communication Arts Department was presented by their adviser Ms. Thea Pamela Pauline Javier. … Kudos to the Communication Arts Department for bringing pride and honor to SSC-R as their paper entitled “Japanese Acculturation of Filipino Otakus through Anime Consumption” became a finalist for the Excellent Research Award under the Social Science Category.
