On April 6, 2024, San Sebastian College-Recoletos, Manila (SSC-R) forged a meaningful partnership with the Sagip Sierra Madre Environmental Group to extend assistance to the Dumagat tribe residing in Sitio Suha, Barangay San Mateo, Norzagaray, Bulacan. The event was attended by esteemed individuals, including Rev. Fr. Virgilio M. Paredes Jr., OAR, Vice President for Identity, Formation, and Mission, dedicated college faculties such as Atty. Jesus Anthony Diosana, Ms. Ma. Teresa Valeroso and Mr. Arren Santos, alongside our Outreach Coordinator, Ms. Mary Grace Depalubos, and enthusiastic college students from various disciplines, including Political Science, Tourism and Hospitality Management, and READS grantees.
During this collaborative effort, SSC-R Manila launched a cooperative project aimed at supporting the livelihood ventures of the Dumagat tribe. The initiative began with the provision of live chickens and feed, serving as a jumpstart for their entrepreneurial endeavors. Additionally, our students took the opportunity to extend further assistance by handing over hygiene and food packs to the Dumagat community, addressing immediate needs and promoting overall well-being.

Participants engaged in meaningful interactions with members of the Dumagat tribe, fostering a sense of empathy, understanding, and shared humanity. Through this collaborative effort, San SSC-R Manila and the Sagip Sierra Madre Environmental Group demonstrated our commitment to social responsibility, environmental conservation, and community empowerment.
