SSCR 79TH FOUNDATION CELEBRATION: JOURNEYING AS ONE

Grand Outreach Program for Taal Eruption Victims

On the second day of the 79th Foundation Celebration, some members of the Sebastinian Community visited the victims of the Taal Volcano eruption in Alfonso, Cavite and Tuy, Batangas evacuation centers to distribute relief goods. Ninety-three (93) individuals from Sacred Heart School – Recoletos de Alfonso in Alfonso, Cavite, ninety-nine (99) families (equivalent to 305 individuals) in Barangay Dao, Tuy, Batangas, one hundred fifteen (115) families (equivalent to 674 individuals) from Jose Zabarte Elementary School, and some families and individuals in Guinhawa Elementary School benefitted from this relief distribution operation. This community extension activity would not be possible however without our alumni, students, parents, teaching & non-teaching personnel, lay administrators, and religious administrators, as generous donors.

College Intramurals

Also on the same second day of the celebration, the College Intramurals was opened. College students from different programs gathered for the opening ceremonies of their intramurals. The selection of the 79th Foundation Celebration Mr. and Ms. Intramurals followed. Each college program paraded its respective candidates in their chosen sports attire with the aim of vying for the title Mr. and Ms. Intramurals respectively. Some highlights of the College Intramurals were the invitational Basketball games played at the SSC-R Quadrangle watched by students from different departments.

Book Launch

Books of stories and lessons were waiting to be flipped through pages in the book launching ceremonies in the Minor Basilica of San Sebastian. Rev. Fr. Julius M. Marcos, OAR and Rev. Fr. Antonio S. Limchaypo, OAR gave their respective messages and gratitude to the Sebastinian Community who came for the event and shared about Saint Ezekiel Moreno. The ceremony launched two (2) books, St. Ezekiel Moreno: Studies on his Missionary Activity in the Philippines and St. Ezekiel Moreno: Augustinian Recollect Icon of Holiness in the Mission. Along with these books is the book signing by the author himself, Prof. Emmanuel Luis A. Romanillos. Sebastinians who purchased copy or copies of the book launched were granted some special discounts by the author.

SSC-R Idol: Singing Competition for Employees

Employees, faculty members, and even lay administrators took the stage at a higher stake when it was their time to show to the Sebastinian Community what they got. Ms. Anna Liza B. Yanquiling opened the competition as the different representatives from the different departments competed for the prizes at stake. Representatives from the Grade School Department, Junior High School Department, Senior High School Department, Non-Teaching Personnel, Security Office, and Janitorial Services were among those who battled for the title. Intermission numbers from Ms. Angelica Rose Tigbayan, a READS scholar, Junior High School Terpsichorean, and Ms. Pauline Reyes added color to the event. Tawag ng Tanghalan Finalist and an SSC-R alumna, Ms. Kim Nemenzo, led the panel of judges for the competition. In the end, Mr. Romulo S. Garcia, from the Campus Security and Safety Office (CSSO), emerged as the 79th Foundation Celebration SSC-R Idol. The award was given by no less than Ms. Kim Nemezo, our Tawag Ng Tanghalan Sebastinian pride.
