SSC-R Manila’s very own, Ms. Carla Angela Valderrama, was crowned this year’s Ms. Philippines – Fire last May 31 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Valderrama, a 4th-year Tourism student who loves to join different beauty pageants, was already crowned as Ms. Tourism Queen Asia at Xitang, China in 2013. She was also SSC-R Manila’s representative to the Ms. NCAA that same year. She was also one of the 24K Girls of Kapamilya Deal or No Deal, which she considered one of the most memorable moments of her life. She joined the Bb. Laguna and fortunately became the representative of Siniloan, Laguna to Ms. Philippines Earth 2015.
Carla said she competed for the Miss Philippines Earth crown because she wants to join a pageant that not just showcases beauty but also shows love of nature. She’d like to empower the youth through different activities in which they can learn a lot about the protection of the environment. Carla led the casual wear competition during the activities before the coronation night.
Sharing the glory with Valderrama are other elemental winners Miss Philippines – Water Catherine Joy Marin (Bago City), Miss Philippines – Air Chanel Olive Thomas (San Antonio, Nueva Ecija), and Miss Philippines – Ecotourism Jona Sweet (Iloilo City). The most coveted crown of being Miss Philippines -Earth was worn that night by a working student from the City of Manila Angelia Gabrena Ong.
