The Student Development and Placement Center provides a wide variety of services to promote personal growth and development and to help students address problems of daily living. These services include personal, individual or group counseling, career exploration, study skills assessment programs, crisis intervention, and interpersonal skills training. Other educational opportunities such as leadership training, human relations skill building, assertiveness training, decision making skills, and stress management are provided. In addition, proactive and preventive group workshops, programs and outreach services are available. Consultation and referral services are also provided. Individual testing services are utilized by the counselors when appropriate.


  1. The main function of the Student Development and Placement Center is to assist students to gain maximum benefit from their educational experiences through counseling and guidance in relation to their academic and personal needs. It also organizes school activities which will provide opportunities for intellectual, physical, cultural, socio-civic, and moral development.
  2. The role of the counselor is mainly characterized by understanding, acceptance and empathy with the students in order to help in their emotional and educational growth. Counseling is an integral part of the school, particularly with the complex and involved situations with which are confronted today. The key areas which are covered are personal concerns and needs, academic counseling, career information, educational and job placement.
  3. Throughout the school year, SDPC makes resource materials available for students dealing with occupational information.
  4. The Student Development and Placement Center conducts researches to determine the functionality of the SDPC Services. Evaluation is made for every seminar, program, project and other activities undertaken. Studies, evaluations and surveys conducted by the guidance office are available for Administrators, Faculty and Students for their further programs and studies.
  5. Mental Ability, occupational interests and personality strengths and weaknesses are assessed through the use of standardized psychological tests. Tests are interpreted for the students’ awareness growth and developments.
  6. SDPC keeps and updates student’s data which includes personal, educational background, social-vocational, health background, psychological test and achievements.
  7. It establishes linkages with different agencies and institutions for possible placement of students. Employment registration form is made available to interested parties to facilitate job placement. SDPC also organizes Job Fairs, Job Hunting Seminars and Career Assessment Programs.

SDPC trains student volunteers who wants to become Peer Facilitators to work with their fellow students. They work together as a team to assist their peers. Older students who have demonstrated sound interpersonal skills and responsible thinking are also invited to take special training course and become Peer Facilitators. These groups provide students with a special opportunity to share experiences, explore feelings offer ideas, encourage and listen to others.


We want Student Development and Placement Center (SDPC) to have a continuing effort to anticipate and understand student needs and involve students in helping decide how to meet those needs. The group of counselors will be fully functioning members of the school community who work cohesively and produce excellence for the College


The mission of Student Development and Placement Center is to provide exemplary support for student growth and development. With diversity as its seal, the group of counselors seeks to increase student access, retention, satisfaction, opportunity and achievement.

Through this mission, the SDPC seeks to provide programs and services that reflect students’ needs, and help them reach their educational objectives.



Counseling is a helping relationship between the Counselor (Helper) and the Counselee (Helpee). It is the core of the SDPC Services, the very reason of the existence of the office.  This service may extend to individual counseling (routine, referred, voluntary and exit interview), group counseling (referred, homeroom guidance and voluntary); follow-up counseling; and case conferences (teacher-counselor, parent-counselor and parent-teacher-counselor). Counselors are available to students with academic, personal, family, interpersonal, emotional and career concerns.


  1. to provide the students with information on matters important to their adjustment and success;
  2. to assist students in empowering themselves by providing alternatives, clarification and leads for the resolution of their conflicts and worries; and
  3. to provide assistance to students with special cases such as the emotionally or psychologically disturbed.

It encompasses filling up and updating of cumulative record and the gathering of individual background or data (personal, family, educational, career, social, health, socio-economic, extra-curricular).  Likewise, it includes the continuous updating of the students’ records in the SDPC particularly counseling reports (observations, follow-up, etc.). Students’ data are kept CONFIDENTIAL.


  1. to assess and understand student’s personality make- up through the background data they provide;
  2. to gather pertinent information about the student that could be used to maximize the service being offered to him; and
  3. to assist teachers/advisers as well as parents in understanding the student better.

It is counseling as well as a research tool. This covers: test selection; organization of testing calendar; administration, scoring and interpretation of tests; dissemination/communication of results; construction of local norms; and follow-up counseling utilizing test results.  There are various tests available such as personality tests, mental ability tests, aptitude tests, achievement tests, assessment of values and habits, emotional adjustment, etc.  Test results can be used also in case studies of students.


  1. to help students build a realistic picture of themselves through an estimate of his mental ability, interest, aptitude, personality, attitude, habits and achievement;
  2. to gain accurate information on the student’s strengths and weaknesses; and
  3. to provide basis for research and information on other needs of the student.

This service is a means to reach out to students and other clients or members of the community through dissemination of information that would benefit them. Dissemination of information is done through bulletin boards, Student Manual/Handbook and other means to reach out to students. This service also extends to parents, alumni, teachers, administrators, other school personnel and the outside community. It also includes room to room campaign, homeroom guidance class, symposia, seminars, conferences and orientation with the use of tri-media system.


  1. to provide students with information that are necessary for a successful scholastic performance;
  2. to provide students with information that can help them prepare for career-pathing; and
  3. to provide information on achieving a wholesome personality with proper values and right attitude.

It is a comprehensive, developmental program designed to assist students in making and implementing informed educational and occupational choices. A career guidance and counseling program develops an individual’s competencies in self-knowledge, educational and occupational exploration, and career planning.

This includes correlation studies, surveys, research and profiles. It also refers to evaluation, activity reports and communication of results of studies, researches and evaluation.


  1. to assist in curricular planning and development through results of researches;
  2. to conduct significant assessment of the guidance services by knowing its strengths and weaknesses; and
  3. to disseminate results of studies and effectively  implement the recommendations to improve instructions and other services being rendered to students.

This takes the form of counseling, survey, research, evaluation, alumni meetings and homecoming.


  1. to assist graduates/alumni as well as to students who are still in school and those who are school leavers; and
  2. to secure information about the experiences of graduates/former students which may be of value to the students and to the whole school especially its academic program.

It includes recruitment, selection, organization and training of peer counselors. It encompasses the preparation of programs and activities related thereto and implementation of the services of the club. Peer facilitators are the extension arm of the SDPC/Guidance Office in reaching out to a greater number of students.  They are screened, trained and supervised to make them more effective in carrying out their tasks. They assist the SDPC/Guidance Office in organizing/facilitating activities. They are also trained to conduct peer counseling.  There is a designated month for recruitment and training of the members.


  1. to recruit, select, organize and train peer counselors;
  2. to provide them with necessary skills and values that will make them more effective peer counselors; and

to help them assess their career/vocation in serving others.

This Wellness Program aims to assist college students learn competencies for life skills. Through mastery of these basic life skills, they would be able to improve quality of their life and therefore find meaning or purpose of being.

This covers researches, evaluation, trainings, and enrichment seminars for their personal and professional growth.

  6. conduct of case conference on students referred to the office
  7. provides results of researches and evaluation

This covers researches, studies and enrichment seminars particularly in effective/good parenting.  Counseling, case conferences/dialogues are also offered as the need arises.

It includes various services that include researches, studies and enrichment seminars appropriate to their personal well-being and work needs.

It provides the administration with updates of accomplishment that can be used as basis for improving the services offered by the school to its clientele.
