Alab ng Pagkakaisa: SSC-R Commemorates the Spirit of EDSA

Students lit their candles while listening to the reflection on EDSA.

On February 24, 2025, the San Sebastian College-Recoletos (SSC-R) community gathered at the school quadrangle to commemorate the legacy of the 1986 People Power Revolution. The event, entitled “Alab ng Pagkakaisa,” served as a meaningful reminder of the values of unity and
democracy that characterized this pivotal moment in Philippine history.

The program opened with a warm welcome from Ms. Diosalyn Bacolor, the President of the College Supreme Student Government. Following her introduction, Rev. Fr. Rafael B. Pecson, OAR, the School President, delivered an inspiring message reflecting on EDSA’s enduring impact and the lessons it holds for future generations.

Student leaders stood firm against historical revisionism during the event.
A notable moment during the event was a solemn candle-lighting ceremony that represented hope and solidarity. SSC-R students—Ms. Klariss Bacus, Ms. Jan Marie De Guzman, Mr. Wyatt Santos, and Ms. Rica Dimayuga—shared heartfelt reflections on the significance of EDSA, highlighting its importance in today's society. The program concluded with a heartfelt rendition of "Handog ng Pilipino sa Mundo," a song that has come to embody Filipino unity and resilience.
Rev. Fr. Rafael B. Pecson, OAR, the president of SSC-R, delivered a message of reflection to the school community.

This gathering reaffirmed SSC-R’s commitment to nurturing patriotism and community spirit
among its students. Through “Alab ng Pagkakaisa,” the institution encouraged everyone to draw inspiration from EDSA’s legacy and collaborate for a brighter future for the Philippines.
