Empowering Futures: SSC-R Manila’s Contribution to the International Forum on Digital Education Cooperation

San Sebastian College-Recoletos Manila (SSC-R) participated in the International Forum on Digital Education Cooperation, held from October 26 to 28, 2024, at Yunnan Open University in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China. The College was represented by Fr. Rafael B. Pecson, OAR, the School President, and Mr. Narciso D. Valeriano Jr., MCM, the Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing at SSC-R Manila.

Higher education institutions (HEIs) from Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, the Maldives,
and Bangladesh participated in the forum, with SSC-R Manila being the only HEI invited from the
Philippines. The forum served as a platform for HEI leaders in the region to discuss challenges and
explore opportunities for collaboration in digital education aimed at lifelong learning. Fr. Pecson
delivered a keynote speech addressing the impact of the digital education era on the youth of Southeast Asia.

On the second day, HEI representatives had the chance to tour the Yunnan Open University campus for benchmarking, presentations, and in-depth discussions with university officials. In keeping with SSC-R’s commitment to internationalization, student mobility and cultural exchanges between teachers and students from Yunnan are expected for the upcoming academic year.
