Lingap Recoleto Donation Initiative For Communities Affected by Typhoon Carina

In response to the widespread devastation caused by Super Typhoon Carina, San Sebastian College-Recoletos Manila organized the Lingap Recoleto Donation Initiative on July 24, 2024 aimed at offering extensive support not only to its students and employees who were directly impacted but also to the broader community affected by the disaster. This initiative underscores the college’s deep commitment to humanitarian efforts and highlights the critical importance of community solidarity during such challenging times.

The success of this donation drive is bolstered by the involvement of various collaborators, alumni, and external sponsors. The college’s administrators played a pivotal role in coordinating these efforts, ensuring smooth communication across departments and overseeing the initiative’s effective execution. Employees and students have contributed not only through financial donations but also by volunteering their time to help organize events and manage logistics. Alumni have also stepped up, demonstrating their ongoing dedication to their alma mater and the community by contributing both financially and through volunteer efforts. Moreover, external sponsors have provided essential resources, including monetary donations and in-kind contributions, which are vital to advancing the relief efforts. This collective action reflects a strong network of support, essential for effective disaster response and recovery, and showcases the power of community unity in overcoming adversity.

The donated goods were distributed to the affected students last July 30 while the employees were able to receive on August 9. Additionally, selected beneficiaries in Taguig have also received their relief goods last August 24, 2024.

This remarkable collaboration highlighted the profound influence that a committed and compassionate network can exist in times of crisis. It underscored SSC-R’s steadfast dedication to humanitarian aid and social responsibility, embodying its role as Creators of Communion.
