The Lingap Recoleto campaign, spearheaded by the School President Fr. Rafael B. Pecson, OAR, and the four Recoletos schools (Luzon cluster)—San Sebastian College-Recoletos de Manila, SSC-R de Cavite, SSC-R de Laguna, and Sacred Heart Alfonso—was a remarkable testament to solidarity, compassion, and collective action. This groundbreaking collaboration marked their first-ever unified donation drive, held from November 8 to 10, 2024, with the goal of extending a helping hand to families devastated by Typhoon Kristine in Daet, Camarines Norte, and Naga City. With this concerted effort, the campaign reached approximately 1,500 families, bringing much-needed relief and hope in a time of crisis.

Led by Fr. Virgilio Paredes Jr., OAR, the Vice President for Identity, Formation, and Mission, and the
ARCORES team from Manila and Cavite, the Lingap Recoleto campaign mobilized community of
volunteers, including IBED faculty, non-teaching personnel, parents, READS (Recoletos Educational
Assistance for Deserving Students), including the maintenance and security teams.

This initiative was not just about providing essentials; it was a manifestation of the Recoletos schools’ mission to instill a sense of service, empathy, and responsibility in their community. Each relief package delivered to the typhoon victims contained items that could help them in the short term and a message of support, strength, and resilience that would sustain them in the long run.
The Barangay Chairwomen of Barangay Singi and Barangay Dinaga expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the generosity shown by the San Sebastian Recoletos community. They noted the remarkable dedication demonstrated by traveling a long distance to reach their provinces, underscoring the love and commitment to serve those affected by the devastating typhoon.

Lingap Recoleto’s influence extended beyond the tangible assistance provided. By combining
resources and operating as a cohesive body, the Recoletos schools gave hope to communities that had suffered greatly. With the active participation of students, parents, staff, alumni, and the Santo Rosario Cooperative, this campaign established a new standard for future partnerships. The combined efforts of each group made this trip possible, embodying the Recoletos ideals of compassion and solidarity.
