The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), in collaboration with other national and local government agencies and other non-government organizations, conducted a Metrowide Earthquake Drill dubbed as “Metro Manila Shake Drill 2015” on July 30 at exactly 10:30 AM. The said activity aims to provide all stakeholders with a real-world training scenarios in preparation for possible 7.2 magnitude earthquake.
San Sebastian College – Recoletos Manila participated in the said activity as well as the other higher education institutions in Manila especially in the University Belt by conducting an Earthquake Drill in their respective Campuses. The Church bells rang to show participation and awareness, Sirens wailed and authorities sent out cellular phone alarm messages to signal the start of the drill. It aims to simulate the unnerving moments when a massive earthquake strikes and also tests the promptness of the public and the government.
The students and employees of San Sebastian performed the duck, cover and hold exercise and went to the parking area in front of the Basílica Minore de San Sebastián. It took them 3-4 minutes to perform the drill, and it was successfully undertaken according to SO. Noel Casumpang, Security and Safety Officer.
